Why your email needs its own backup

Microsoft and Google operate excellent email platforms. They don't operate excellent email backups. Their retention rules are built around their own needs — service availability, legal e-discovery, compliance — not around your need to restore a mailbox you accidentally deleted three months ago, or recover from a ransomware actor who burned through OAuth tokens and emptied an executive's inbox.

EFAlifeline is purpose-built to fill that gap. It runs outside your email platform, on storage you control. It snapshots every mailbox on a schedule you set. Common questions

Native recovery is bound by the platform's retention policy — typically 30 to 180 days for deleted items, with limited point-in-time controls. EFAlifeline runs independently, on storage outside the platform, with retention you set. If your tenant is compromised or if a deletion isn't noticed for months, native recovery may be too late; EFAlifeline still has it.

In our managed cloud storage with per-tenant encryption keys, in US data centers. Storage region and retention duration are configurable when you sign up.

Single-message restores are typically a few minutes. Mailbox-level restores depend on size; SLA targets are published in your service agreement.
